Background and Experience

 

Building and design:  I've been interested in building and design since growing up building elaborate forts in our backyard. After graduating from Pacific Grove High School, I studied architecture and worked for various contractors, real estate agents, and homeowners remodeling or repairing homes. This turned into a 20-year experience honing my skills working in the building trades in the Monterey Bay area.

 

Restoration:  In 1990, I started working for a local restoration contractor providing property damage repair services for both commercial and residential properties. I particularly enjoyed restoring Victorian homes, so it was a special honor to receive the Pacific Grove Heritage Award for Victorian Home Restoration in 2002.

 

Consulting:  In 2005, I started TSC to assist owners, investors, and insurers with assessing damage caused by natural disasters in the US and abroad, and to provide guidance on the time and cost required to restore the properties. I have also served as an expert witness for construction defects, as an umpire on appraisals, and as a property valuation expert for insurers/owners.

 

Now Offering Home Inspections: Adding these services is a natural transition, while dovetailing neatly with my wish to bring my business closer to the Monterey Bay area. My long experience in the building industry has trained me to explain clearly what's going on with a property, what it means, how to deal with it, and why nearly every building problem has a solution.  I offer easy to read, modern reports designed to make the process simple, yet accurate and professional.
